Chapter FAQs

(1) Can we only accept federal employees as members or are contractors also allowed to join?

YGL is open to both federal, state, and local employees along with contractors working for the government.

(2) What are the requirements for starting a YGL chapter?

Inform YGL Chapter Liaison of intent to start a YGL Chapter by sending an e-mail to admin@younggovernmentleaders.org and include Chapter location and contact information for Chapter Lead. Upon YGL Co-Chair approval, Chapter Liaison will send YGL Chapter Guidelines start-up kit with further instructions.

(3) How do I post our Chapter events on the National YGL website?

We welcome all Local Chapters and Organizers to take advantage of our Bulletin and post information on your chapter and upcoming events on the YGL website. E-mail your Chapter and Event information: events@younggovernmentleaders.org.

(4) Are there YGL promotional materials available for our chapter to use?

Yes, YGL has a logo and other documents available. Please contact our Chapter Development Liaison at admin@younggovernmentleaders.org for further information.

(5) Do you have any information on best practices, event/fundraising ideas for our new chapter?

The Executive Committee is currently developing a Best Practices Manual. The different Executive Board Committee Chairs are a great resource for suggestions on how to plan social and professional development events. Contact Chairs through the YGL website.

At this time, YGL is strictly a voluntary organization and is not incorporated.  YGL recently gained Non-Profit 501(c)(3).

All sponsor requests greater than $1,000 must be forwarded to YGL National. Please contact the Chapter Liaison at admin@younggovernmentleaders.org for specific questions regarding affiliations or sponsorships.
