Volunteers Still Needed for Two May YGL Events

in

There is still time to sign-up for two YGL volunteer events. Please see below for details.

YGL-DC Volunteer Event with Capital Area Food Bank 5/1/10

Join YGL on Saturday May 1st (9:00 AM to 12:00 PM) at the Capital Area Food Bank, where we will be sorting the important food donations that are later distributed to the agencies that need them. We will be helping in the warehouse with other groups. Due to the popularity of this activity, we will only be able to accept the first twelve volunteers. If interested, please contact Jerome Brown, YGL DC Chapter President at Jerome.a.brown@gmail.com. If you are unable to attend, we will have another opportunity in June.

Hope to see you there!

YGL D.C./Bethesda Hands On DC Volunteer Event 5/15/10

YGL Seeks Volunteers for 2010 Workathon on Saturday, May 15, 2010, D.C.-based non-profit “Hands On DC will hold its annual Workathon where volunteers spend the day improving the physical condition of DC public schools. YGL’s D.C. and Bethesda chapters will be teaming up once again to participate in this event. We are in need of enthusiastic volunteers who are interested in donating part of their Saturday to make a difference in the D.C. community. Work typically involves projects such as painting, cleaning, and landscaping. Volunteers are not required to donate or collect donations but it is appreciated. Donations have enabled Hands On DC to provide over $570,000 in scholarships as well as purchase supplies (i.e. paint, mulch, etc,) for use during the annual event. Individuals who raise $50 or more will receive a free Hands On DC t-shirt. Last year we raised more than $800. This year, we hope to raise more than $1,000.
